Bob Shaw - Banjo

Bob Shaw has been playing Bluegrass banjo for over forty years.  He started while he was a graduate student in physics at the University of California at Berkeley, initially attracted to the playing of Ben Eldridge of the Seldom Scene and the melodic playing of Bill Keith and Bill Knopf.  He soon came to appreciate the genius of Earl Scruggs, and later, Bela Fleck and Scott Vestal.  Bob provides vocal foundation and arrangements and continues to amaze fans with his three octave vocal range that allows him to sing the bass through tenor parts.  Before joining DRSB, Bob was a member of the Shaw Brothers & Pete Milano Band and the Flatland Grass Bluegrass Band.
